Court Reporter- Voice Recorder careers?

I would greatly appreciate any advice from voice recorders on whether or not they have found success. I'm a 13 year veteran paralegal that is about to burn out. I'm only 35; and thinking of this career for a fresh start. Classes are $4k and I need to know the likelihood of recovering that quickly, plus feed a family of four.

In Arkansas, salary is supposed to range between 30k to 80k depending on frequency. Does that sound right? Or do you think stenographers are more highly sought after?
